New patient Orientations during the COVID-19 outbreak

In light of the recent COVID-19 outbreak, we at the Brooklyn Birthing Center understand your interest in moving your birth plans to an out of hospital birth. We are happy to provide the prenatal, labor/delivery, and postpartum care for you in this time. Please know that we practice all standard sanitization protocols, and are asking patients to limit those attending their birth to only essential support people (doulas very welcome). We are moving all of our group classes to an on-line format, including lactation classes and new patient orientations.
Requirements for transferring care to BBC *FOR ALL THOSE 36+ WEEKS GESTATION (For all those less than 36 weeks gestation, please sign up for an orientation through our website as usual):
1. To provide the most comprehensive care, in order to transfer to the BBC, we require all prenatal records to be transferred as soon as possible (fax: 718-943-0739, email: efax@brooklynbirthingcenter.com). These records include ALL prenatal lab test results (initial prenatal labs like blood type and carrier screens, blood glucose test results, urinalysis, STI tests, etc.), ALL ultrasounds including ultrasound reports, and any written notes from your current OBGYN or midwife provider.
2. Please sign up for an orientation on our website here: https://brooklynbirthingcenter.com/orientation-sign-up/, and instead of choosing an orientation date, please choose “Late Transfer.” You will be added to the earliest orientation, even if it is not listed as an option. All orientations at the moment are done online. Clients scheduled for orientation will receive an email with the link for the online orientation. You should receive the email either a day before the scheduled orientation or on the day of orientation.
3. We also want to make sure your insurance covers care at the BBC, and require that you send the attached verification of benefits form, along with a front/back photo of your insurance card, to our medical biller. The form can be found on our website, under the Resources tab and under Client Hand-Outs.
4. Once you’ve completed the previous steps, you can start care at the BBC and schedule your first appointment by calling our main office line: 718-336-4119. Please be sure to complete the above steps before scheduling your first appointment.
