Newborn Care for Expecting Parents with Shalawn

May 10, 2014 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

$55

You’re expecting your first baby! But your experience with newborns is limited. In this class you will learn:

  • What to expect during the first few hours of your baby’s life
  • What is “normal” in terms of newborn appearance
  • What you need to have for your baby
  • Ways to soothe a fussy baby
  • When you should call the pediatrician
  • Techniques for diapering, swaddling, bathing, and more

We will also discuss adjusting to your transition into parenthood. This class is open to adoptive parents and grandparents, too.

Shalawn Facey

Shalawn Facey is a New York native, born and raised in Brooklyn. She had her first child in 2003 and became deeply committed to motherhood. As a new mother, she quickly realized the importance of support for breastfeeding moms and new moms in general. She trained as a postpartum doula, labor support doula, and a certified lactation counselor in order to provide this crucial support for other new and expecting parents. Helping them navigate the waters of parenting a newborn is her passion. In addition to working as a private doula and lactation counselor, Shalawn serves as our Lead Birthing Assistant at BBC.
